Agri commodity tips: Jeera closes higher on limited stocks

Agri commodity tips: Jeera prices closed higher by 0.03 per cent on Friday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the traders increased their holdings in the commodity in the midst limited arrivals from growing regions. At the NCDEX, jeera futures for October 2015 contract closed at Rs. 15,830 per quintal, up by 0.03 per cent, after opening at Rs. 15,895 against the previous closing price of Rs. 15,825. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 16,045.

Sentiment improved further as a result of reduced national supplies in the physical markets and some export inquiries.

Global result of Jeera is around 2.2 lakh MT per year, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT per year. India exports Jeera mainly to the US, UK, UAE, Japan, Brazil, Bangladesh, Singapore and many other countries. Other Major exporters are Syria and Turkey.

Agri Commodity Tips: Chana ends higher on strong buying interest

Agri Commodity Tips: Chana prices closed higher 2.47 per cent on Wednesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the investors enlarged their possessions in the commodity on account of the good demand in the market. At the NCDEX, chana futures for September 2015 contract ended at Rs. 4,402 per quintal, up by 2.47 per cent, after opening at Rs. 4,338 against the previous closing price of Rs. 4,296. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 4,446.

Moreover, the restricted arrivals of the products in the real market due to lower estimated output also influenced the chana prices.

Indian equity, forex, money and merchandise markets were shut yesterday on account of Ganesh Chaturthi.

India is the biggest producer of chickpea followed by Pakistan, Turkey and Iran. India produces around 6 to 8 million tonnes and contributes around 70 % of the total world production.

At the NCDEX, maize futures for September 2015 contract closed at Rs. 1,477 per quintal, up by 0.34 per cent, after opening at Rs. 1,477 against the previous closing price of Rs. 1,472. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 1,477.

USA, China and Brazil are the top three maize manufacture countries in the world while the prominent exporters of maize are USA, Argentina and Brazil. prime traders are Japan, EU, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia etc.

Agri Commodity tips: Mustard seed ends lower on sluggish demand

Agri Commodity tips: Mustard Seed prices closed lower by 0.51 per cent on Monday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of the profit booking by the investors on account of the weak crushing and export demand of mustard meal. At the national Commodity Exchange, Mustard Seed futures for September 2015 contract closed at Rs. 4,271 per quintal, down by 0.51 per cent, after opening at Rs. 4,300 against the previous closing price of Rs. 4,293. It touched the intraday low of Rs. 4,264.

Sentiment weakened further due to the sluggish export demand as a result of the weak demand for the commodity.
EU-27 accounts to about 34 % of worlds RM seed production, others major producers are China (23 %), Canada (19 %), India (14 %), Australia (3 %), Ukraine (2 %). India produces 5.5 million MT to7 million MT annually.

Agri Commodity Tips: Maize prices ended lower by 0.9 per cent on Friday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of heavy selling task by the traders on account of higher global supplies and weak off takes from the local traders. At the NCDEX, maize futures for September 2015 contract closed at Rs. 1,425 per quintal, down by 0.9 per cent, after opening at Rs. 1,445 against the previous closing price of Rs. 1,438. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 1,417.
Sentiment weakened further as a result of a decline in the demand for the commodity from bio-fuel making industries  tracing the weak national markets.
USA, China and Brazil are the top three maize producing countries in the world while the important dealers of maize are USA, Argentina and Brazil. Chief importers are Japan, EU, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia etc.

Agri Commodity Tips: Chana prices closed higher 0.33 per cent on Thursday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the investors enlarged their holdings in the merchandise on account of the good demand in the market. At the NCDEX, chana futures for September 2015 agreement ended at Rs. 4,538 per quintal, up by 0.33 per cent, after opening at Rs. 4,555 against the previous closing price of Rs. 4,523. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 4,633.

Moreover, the restricted entrance of the commodity in the physical market due to lower estimated output also influenced the chana prices.

Agri Commodity Tips: Jeera prices closed lower by 1.48 per cent on Wednesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) on account of a surge in the supply from the bearing regions in the midst of a decline in the export demand. At the NCDEX, jeera expected for September 2015 contract closed at Rs. 15,680 per quintal, down by 1.48 per cent, after opening at Rs. 15,990 against the previous closing price of Rs. 15,915. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 15,660.

Global output of Jeera is around 2.2 lakh MT per year, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT per year.

At the NCDEX, jeera futures for September 2015 contract ended at Rs. 15,880 per quintal, down by 2.13 per cent, after opening at Rs. 16,125 against the previous closing price of Rs. 16,225. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 15,875.

Global execution of Jeera is around 2.2 lakh MT annually, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT per year.

Agri Commodity Tips: KOCHI: Cash crops are  progressively becoming part of the organic food wave that is sweeping across Kerala. After the success in increasing the production of organic vegetables, farmers in the state have turned to organic cultivation of cardamom, pineapple, coffee, tea and cocoa, given the widespread awareness about pesticide residues in food products.

The state government is focusing on  expanding organic production of pepper and coffee in Wayanad; cardamom, tea and cocoa in Idukki; and vegetables and other commodity in Kasargod. "It is a continuous process. We need at least three years of organic nurture to get APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) approved certificate," said K Pratapan, state horticulture mission director.

Agri Commodity Tips: India's cotton output may fall due to minimal rains

Agri Commodity Tips: CHANDIGARH: Cotton production in India is likely to drop by up to 15 per cent this year due to insufficient rain and pest attack in two cotton-growing zone of the country.
In Gujarat, a major cotton-producing state, the crop has been hit by weak rainfall after a good sowing session, when the monsoon was strong. Rainfall in the region has been patchy and 28% below normal.

Farmers are worried as rainfall over the last one month has been scanty, putting the crop under pressure. "The yield could decline by 10% 15% due to lower acreage and less rains in Gujarat," said Saurin Parikh of the All India Cotton Gin Press Association.

It touched the Intraday high of Rs. 1,211.

The consumption demand for Barley in India mainly comes for malt, poultry and animal feed. Barley malt is majorly used for the generation of alcoholic beverages in the country.

Agri Tips: Coriander prices rose by 0.7% on Friday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of the limited stocks on account of cramped arrivals from the major growing belts. At the NCDEX, coriander futures for September 2015 contract was trading at Rs. 10,834 per quintal, up by 0.7 per cent after opening at Rs. 10,759 against the last closing price of Rs. 10,759. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 10,849 till the trading. (At 12.00 PM today).

Sentiment ameliorated further as the traders enlarged their holdings tracking the surge in the demand for the commodity.

Agri Commodity Tips : Cardamom gains on upbeat buying activity.

Agri Commodity Tips : Cardamom prices rose by 0.53 per cent on Monday at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on account of good buying support from both exporters and upcountry buyers and also on hopes of improved export demand. At MCX, Cardamom futures for September 2015 contract were trading at Rs 781.50 per kg, up by 0.53 per cent, after opening at Rs. 775 against the previous closing price of Rs. 777.40. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 787 till the trading. (At 10.45 AM today). Sentiment improved further as a result of firm demand in the market against restricted arrivals from producing belts of Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh.
Kerala (70%), Karnataka (20 per cent) and Tamil Nadu (10 per cent) are the cardamom growing states in India while about 90% of the produce is consumed within the nation.
